Cheers to my Sippin Gypsy Team Tequila! This post comes to you while enjoying my Bloody Maria, perfect for a cool winter evening!
I consider myself a southern girl. I love southern comfort food and have enjoyed amazing cuisine in some of the South's most celebrated culinary cities including Savannah Ga, New Orleans La, Atlanta Ga and all over Florida. But today I just tasted one of the best cheesy grits I have ever experienced at Canvas in Lake Nona, just on the outskirts of Orlando Fl. I ordered the Braised Pork Shank which sat on a bed of pimento cheese grits. The cheese combined with the burnt honey glaze from the shank made these grits unbelievable. The texture was just the right consistency of creamy and smooth and the flavor was addicting. If it wasn't so close to the kitchen closing, I would've ordered more to go! Thank you Canvas for The BEST I've Ever Had: Cheese Grits with your Braised Pork Shank Plate....they were amazing!!!

Who doesn't like anything with lots and lots of cheese? I particularly love cheese polenta, cheese curds and cheese grits, but grits are my absolute favorite southern comfort food. I'll have it with anything. My grandma makes the silkiest grits ever, but I live too far away from her and I definitely miss it. I only get to visit her every six months when I come home, so this post reminded me of her. I'm going to try this, and hopefully, it tastes close to grandma's grits.
